To
The Commissioner,
Municipal corporation of Kolkata

Subject: Unavoidable insanitary conditions in our locality, Karimganj.

Respected Sir/Madam,

In inviting reference to the subject cited above, I would like to draw your attention towards the inescapable and miserable insanitary conditions in our locality.

Since the past week, there have been 8 cases of Malaria in our locality. This has been mainly because of the gross negligence of the cleaning workers and sweepers who are not carrying out their works properly. With multiple pits/ potholes on the road and service lanes, the rain water gets easily collected which further becomes a breeding ground for the mosquitoes carrying out malaria and other diseases.

The workers responsible for the cleaning of the locality, are not regular at their jobs and hardly clean the site once a week. There are several broken dustbins that spill out garbage on the roads resulting in foul smells and harmful diseases. But it is also to be mentioned that the workers are not the only ones to be blamed as Locality Mayors too haven’t been doing their jobs in the true spirit off late.

With repeated complaints made about the absence of proper dustbins and the negligence of workers, no action was taken by the mayors. Adding to this lawlessness is the recent happening which did not go well with the residents of Karimganj. As the society, ‘Tulsi Bhavan’ reported 10 fresh cases of COVID out of the 13 families living there, it has appeared that a few people from the society itself, carelessly seem to travel in and out of the society which contracted COVID-19.

I highly urge you and your office to take immediate action against such wrong doings and miserable insanitary conditions here at Karimganj as it is putting the lives and health of the residents at risk, big time.

Yours Sincerely,
Dibya Prakash Singh

Sample Letter-1 (Letter to Municipality Complaining about Insanitary Condition)

21, Karimganj,
Kolkata, West Bengal,
Pincode: 788710

July 15, 2022.

To
The Commissioner,
Municipal corporation of Kolkata

Subject: Unavoidable insanitary conditions in our locality, Karimganj.

Respected Sir/Madam,

I would like to draw your kind attention towards the miserable insanitary conditions in our locality of Karimganj.

The locality since the past few months has become more of a breeding ground for the flies, mosquitoes and other insects which spread harmful diseases. As there have been as many as 18 cases of Malaria and 4 cases of COVID in the past month, the situation and the mood of the locality is very grim and tensed.

As several residents have brought to the notice of the Locality Mayors of the broken dustbins which spill out dust and other unhygienic materials and waste which result in foul smell and risk of diseases, the Mayors had very little or nothing to offer as ‘action’. The sweepers and cleaning staffs too, do not seem to take their work seriously as there are roads filled with plastic, cans, leaves and other wastes.

Adding to this misery are the pits/potholes on the road which carry rainwater which further invite mosquitoes and flies to carry out harmful diseases. To top the list of negligence, two members of a family who belong from ‘Tulsi Vishesh’ society, the one which reported 18 cases of COVID recently have been spotted coming in and out of the society freely. The matter has been reported to the locality mayors, though response and action is still awaited.

I hereby on behalf of the entire locality of Karimganj ask you and your office to take account of the growing insanitary conditions of the locality at the earliest as it puts the health and lives at risk of the residents concerned.

Yours Faithfully,
Deepak Kumar
